Joel became a Master Community Composter this past spring and has been loyally helping maintain the North Pole Community Garden. One time I even caught him weeding the garden when nobody was around. So if you see Joel, celebrate him because he is pretty awesome. Below is a reflection Joel shared with us about his time with Seedleaf:
I started volunteering for Seedleaf to learn how to grow food and play a small part in creating a more self-sufficient food economy in Lexington. Most of my involvement so far has been at North Pole on Limestone; I water on Fridays as needed and spend a couple of hours most Saturdays doing basic maintenance with other volunteers. I also met a lot of cool people through the Master Community Compost Training Seedleaf did earlier this year. It’s very gratifying to learn how to do something useful and help make more food available to Lexingtonians at the same time. Having a reason to spend all that time outside isn’t too bad either!
