A Reflection to Win Your Vote

by Ryan on July 2, 2012

A few words of reflection from our dear friend, Rona Roberts:

July 5 will be a red letter day for all of us who love Seedleaf. That’s the day we help Seedleaf win a new truck. We will vote that day for Seedleaf in Toyota’s facebook competition, 100 Cars for Good.
Although Seedleafer’s trademark spring green tee shirts may be their most familiar visual market around town, Ryan’s red truck, the Sport, has been even more important to me. Wherever Ryan’s truck shows up, I know good things are happening. Ryan and his truck bring progress, goodness, happiness to land, plants, and people.
That compact red Sport has put in good time for years now, often sturdily lifting and carrying a bit more than its ideal load as Seedleaf gardens have grown in size and number. It’s time for a new truck with more brawn to match Seedleaf’s 8 community gardens and 8 market gardens—that’s nearly an urban acre now in full, intensive, sustainable production!
Seedleaf’s total budget for all its work of nourishing community amounts to a slender bean thread, a lot less than a shoestring, so it does not include buying a big truck capable of moving thousands of plants or pounds of compost at once, supporting the heavy work of garden installations, and distributing tons of beautiful, healthy produce to community kitchens. That’s why we’re going to help on July 5.
It will take great, coordinated community effort—though nothing as hard as weeding a row of asparagus—and Seedleaf can win a big, tough Toyota Tundra truck in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good competition. On July 5, you can vote one time for Seedleaf at 100carsforgood, which will be one of five worthy nonprofits that day. It’s up to us to vote and encourage all our friends, neighbors, mothers-in-law and former college roommates to vote as well. I have already marked my calendar. Please mark yours now.
I’m looking forward to seeing that new truck around town at Seedleaf sites. I’m imagining it in Seedleaf green. Help make it happen! Vote for Seedleaf’s new Tundra truck on July 5.

So please follow this link to visit an event page where you can get more info, get a reminder to vote on Thursday, and share this exciting opportunity with your friends!

I vote for Seedleaf!

Seedleaf Nourishing Communities do a great job for helping in many different and exciting ways. I remember the Victory Gardens during WW II. Now we have Seedleaf’s numerous gardens teaching people how to grow food efficiently using vegetable scraps compost from local restaurants and then making produce available from the garden to restaurants and others.
