These pictures are from some of the gardens we are maintaining this summer. Here is an update on what is going on at the various sites:
At the Florence Crittendon Home, we have two patches of tomatoes, a recently installed fence, and two rows of brambles to nurse along.
At the Amburgey Garden, we are starting to harvest our potatoes. We’ll have thoes available for sale in the weeks to come–stay tuned.
The Gainesway Community Center Garden is a lovely spot on Milano Rd. (near Centre Parkway) with a play area nearby. We are harvesting kale here, and we just saw our first lima bean yesterday!
We still have plenty going on at the London Ferrell Community Garden. A cover crop of buckwheat has been sown in one row, and we are still harvesting kale and collards. Do visit us this coming Saturday if you’d like to help out. Wendy (teaching in the photo) will be orchestrating volunteers.
The William Wells Brown garden is expanded, and newly painted. We are looking forward to eating some tomatoes and squash from this space.
This accounts for half of our gardens. Keep watching for updates on the others.
